Our Quality — Paint By Dots

OUR QUALITY

Every Paint By Dots kit is designed in Scandinavia and made to the same standard: premium materials, a simple process, and a result you are proud to hang on your wall. Here is exactly what goes into every kit and why it matters.

What is dot painting? Dot painting is a creative technique where you fill in circles on a canvas using acrylic markers. Unlike traditional paint by numbers, there are no brushes, no water cups, and no colour mixing. You choose the marker colour you want, and each marker produces clean, vibrant, textured dots that build into a gallery-quality piece of wall art. The finished result has a distinctive raised texture that cannot be achieved with flat paint.

HOW IT WORKS

1

CHOOSE YOUR DESIGN

Pick from hundres of designs | animals, landscapes, flowers, cities, famous art, or upload your own photo.

2

PICK YOUR MARKER COLOUR

You choose the colour of your acrylic markers. The colour you pick is the colour you get | it is your creative choice, not a random assignment.

3

PLACE YOUR DOTS

Each circle on the canvas is your guide. Simply color inside each one. No colours to match, no guesswork. Just a calm, meditative flow.

4

FRAME & DISPLAY

Every design is available as a rolled canvas, as a ready-to-hang framed canvas stretched over a solid wooden frame, or with a DIY frame kit.

WHAT GOES INTO EVERY KIT

THE CANVAS

Every dot painting is printed on 280gsm premium canvas with a smooth finish. The circles are printed in light grey so they guide your dots precisely but disappear under the marker ink. The result is a clean surface where only your artwork shows.

Available sizes: 20×20 cm, 30×40 cm, 40×50 cm, and 50×70 cm. Larger canvases offer more detail and a more dramatic finished piece.

THE ACRYLIC MARKERS

We use double-tipped, water-based acrylic markers engineered specifically for dot application. Each marker has two tips — a fine tip for detailed work and a broader tip for filling larger circles, so you have full control over every dot. They dry in seconds, produce no odour, and leave a slightly raised, textured dot that gives the finished artwork its signature three-dimensional look. The ink is lightfast and fade resistant. Your artwork will look the same in five years as it does the day you finish it.

You choose your marker colour. When you order, you select the colour you want and that is exactly what arrives in your kit.

Each kit includes the right amount of markers so you can finish your painting without running out.

THE WOODEN FRAME

Our framed option comes ready stretched over a solid wooden frame, so there is nothing to assemble. The canvas is already fitted and aligned for a clean, gallery style finish. Simply place it on your wall and enjoy your finished piece.

The frame is designed with a slim profile (18mm) that keeps the focus on your artwork. A wall-mount kit with hook and fixings is included in every box.

THE PACKAGING

Kits are packed well in our environmentally friendly packaging designed to protect the canvas and markers during shipping. We do our best to avoid excessive plastic and waste.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need any artistic skill to do dot painting?

No skill is needed. Every circle on the canvas is numbered and matched to a specific marker. Place the dot, move to the next circle. If you can hold a pen, you can create a beautiful finished piece.

How do I choose my marker colour?

When you order, you select the marker colour you want from the available options. That is the colour you receive. There is no colour coding or pre-assigned palette on the canvas. The creative choice is yours. This means two people can order the same design and produce completely different artwork.

What are the markers made of?

Our markers are filled with water based acrylic ink and feature dual tips for precision and control. They are non toxic, low odour, quick drying, and designed to hold their colour over time. Each dot sits slightly raised on the canvas, creating a subtle three dimensional texture that standard paint cannot achieve.

What sizes are available?

Our dot painting kits are available in a range of sizes: 30×40 cm, 40×50 cm, 40×60 cm, 50×50 cm, 60×80 cm, 80×80 cm, 80×100 cm, and 80×120 cm. Larger canvases include more circles and finer detail, creating a more refined and striking final result. For most customers, 40×50 cm is the ideal starting size, offering a strong balance between detail and ease.

How long does a dot painting take?

Most kits take between 2 and 20 hours, depending on the canvas size and your pace. Larger sizes naturally take longer as they include more circles and finer detail. It is designed to be completed over multiple sessions. An evening unwind, a weekend project, or a slow Sunday ritual. Simply cap your marker and continue whenever you like.

Is the frame really included?

Framing depends on the option you choose. Our framed version comes ready stretched over a solid wooden frame, so it is ready to hang straight away. You can also choose an unframed canvas or a DIY frame option depending on your preference.

What if a marker runs out before I finish?

Each kit includes enough ink to complete your canvas with a safety margin. In the rare case you run out, you can easily order extra pens from our accessories section and continue without interruption.

Is dot painting the same as paint by numbers?

They follow a similar guided concept, but the experience is very different. Dot painting uses acrylic markers instead of liquid paint, so there is no mess, no brush cleaning, and no drying time. The finished result is also different, with a raised, textured surface rather than a flat painted one. You can see a full comparison in the table above.
